The Amherst Skating Club is a United States Figure Skating (USFS) club with 120 amateur skaters, both young and adult, and 215 non-skating adult members including parents, coaches and judges. Our home ice is the Amherst Pepsi Center; a four-rink facility located on Amherst Manor Drive in Amherst, New York, a suburb of Buffalo. CONGRATULATIONS!
CONGRATULATIONS TO LISA ERVIN BAUDO for her recent appointment as a distinguished Champs Camp Faculty member.
United States Figure Skating sponsors “Champs Camp" for our top US athletes. The event was held in Colorado Springs, Colorado where Baudo presented the latest information for the US technical panel in singles. Baudo spoke before a group of coaches and nearly 60 figure skaters from the A and B Envelopes (for example Kimberly Meissner. Johnny Weir, and upcoming skater Caroline Zhang, to name a few). She presented along side renowned coaches such as Kathy Casey & Charlene Boudreau. “With the recent the ISU (International Skating Union) rule changes adopted in June, it is more important than ever for our US elite skaters to get every technical point possible… that’s where I able to help” said Baudo. Baudo was the 1st American woman certified through the ISU (International Skating Union) as a Technical Specialist in Singles. She has also been selected to officiate the 2009 US Figure Skating National Championships, an honor reserved for top officials.

The Amherst Skating Club held its 44th Annual Awards Banquet, on Friday, June 6, 2008 at The Cedars of Saint John Maron catered by The Grape Vine restaurant. Each USFS Gold Medalist skater was honored by recieving a commemorative 14K gold pin and one dozen long stemmed yellow roses. There are seven levels a skater must pass before you are allowed to test for your gold medal. Gold (or Senior) Freestyle requires the skater to pass all seven Moves-in-the-Field and seven Freestyle levels. Special recognition was also give to Kim Kriner for her outstanding commitment and volunteer work with the Amherst Skating Club. Click here to see full list of awards presented.

Once again it is time to renew your membership with the Amherst Skating Club. The membership packets for 2008/2009 were sent out. Please keep your eye out for them. The forms will need to be completed and returned to the office by Monday, June 9th.

Congratulations to the following Amherst Skating Club competitors at the 19TH ANNUAL SPRING SKATE FESTIVAL, held at Holiday Twin Rinks, Cheektowaga on Mary 17 and 18, 2008. Twenty-two clubs from around Western New York, Canada, Jamestown, Rochester and as far away as Baltimore participated in over 145 events from tots to adults at the annual spring figure skating event. Amherst Skating Club had a record turn out for our spring show "Blast from the Past", an on-ice musical review. The show took place Saturday May 10 at 6:30 pm at the Amherst Pepsi Center Olympic Rink. Tots to Teens performed a musical blast from your past! History of Music was performed through seven group numbers and special appearance from Sweet Icing Synchronized Skating Teams. Two-time US Figure Skating Eastern Sectional competitor, Amanda Gordon along with five senior level competitive skaters performed their showcase programs. Seven High School graduating seniors presented their parents with a pink rose to commemorate their success! The show was a huge success thanks to chair, Beverly Zuchlewski!
